春になって緑の野菜が多く出回る時期の作品。八百屋さんには、形のユニークな野菜が並ぶ。インゲンとアスパラガスと題名をつけているが、オクラもあり３種類の野菜を描いていただいた。
それぞれ形が違うが、食事の支度では使い慣れた野菜たちだ。
３種類も描くのと言われた方もいたが、律儀な９０歳の方々は黙々と課題をこなす。
アスパラガスの細長い形、さやいんげんの豆の入ったふくらみ、オクラのしっかりとした三角を丁寧に観察されている。脱帽だ。この課題も白画用紙に台紙として色画用紙を組み合わせて作品として仕上げている。
This piece was created in spring, when green vegetables abound. The greengrocer’s displays feature uniquely shaped vegetables. Though titled “Green Beans and Asparagus”, it also depicts okra – three varieties in total.
Each has a distinct form, yet they are familiar vegetables used in meal preparation. Some remarked at having to depict three types, but the conscientious 90-year-olds diligently completed the task.
They carefully observed the slender shape of the asparagus, the plump pods of the green beans filled with beans, and the sturdy triangular shape of the okra. Hats off to them. This piece was also completed as a work of art by combining coloured paper as backing onto white drawing paper.
