そら豆は、かわいい。緑の鞘の中に、特徴のある豆が入っていて、それは美味しい季節の味覚だ。
描かれたみなさんは、季節にはいつも茹でて味を楽しんでらしただろう、愛しむようなまなざしでわかる。
鞘と豆を、親子に見立てたように並べて描かれていて、こころが温かくなる。
また、そら豆は緑一色なので、あえて緑の絵の具は封印。三原色、赤、青、黄で色を作っていただいた。
「え、緑色ないの？」と言われても「はい、作ってください」
しかし、色を混ぜて思ったような塩梅に「緑色」ができ始めると、夢中になって筆が走る楽しい時間となった。
Broad beans are rather lovely. Within their green pods lie distinctive beans, a delicious seasonal treat.
The people depicted must have always enjoyed their flavour by boiling them in season; one can tell from their affectionate gaze.
The pods and beans are arranged as if parent and child, warming the heart.
Moreover, as broad beans are entirely green, I deliberately refrained from using green paint. Instead, I asked them to create the colour using the primary colours: red, blue, and yellow.
Even when asked, ‘Eh? No green?’ the response was simply, ‘Yes, please make it.’
However, once the colours began to blend into the desired shade of green, it became a delightful time where the brush moved with abandon.
