クリスマスリースは、下準備が大変だった作品。皆さんのお部屋にクリスマスの飾りがあったら素敵だし、それがご自分の作品だったらもっと素敵だ。そう思って計画した課題が「クリスマスリース」だった。
しかし、これは難題だった。リースの土台となる輪をどうするのか、針金では硬すぎるしリース感に欠ける。予算もある。１００円均一ストア、これは必須ストアだがここで、造花の緑の蔓を見つけたことから、私の中でイメージが膨らんだ。ここに色とりどりのフエルトやボンボンで飾りをつけたらどうか。
でも、どうやって９０歳を越えた方々にも出来る作業にするのか。考えた結果、色とりどりのフエルトは三角形に切り、ボンボンと共に1つずつ細い針金をつけることで、リースの土台につけていただく。数量は膨大だったが、この準備作業にしばらくは没頭した。結果として、皆さんが喜んで楽しく制作されたことは言うまでもない。
The Christmas wreath was a project that required considerable preparation. I thought it would be lovely to have Christmas decorations in everyone’s rooms, and even lovelier if they were your own creations. That’s why I planned the “Christmas wreath” assignment.
However, this proved a difficult challenge. How to make the base ring for the wreath? Wire was too stiff and lacked that wreath-like feel. Budget was also a factor. The 100-yen shop – an essential stop – was where I found artificial green vines, sparking my imagination. What if we decorated these with colourful felt and pom-poms?
But how could I make it manageable for those over ninety? After pondering, I decided to cut the colourful felt into triangles and attach each one, along with a pom-pom, to a thin piece of wire. They could then attach these to the wreath base. The quantity was enormous, but I immersed myself in this preparatory work for a while. Needless to say, everyone was delighted and enjoyed making them immensely.
