虹を描きましょう、といった時に、皆さんの反応は実はあまりよくなかった。単純に、七色の虹が空に架かるのを見て希望やチャンス到来と思うのは、少し単純だったのかもしれない。「虹は見たことがない」と言われる方もいた。
今振り返ると、虹には「虹の橋をわたる」という言葉もあると気づく。
When I suggested drawing a rainbow, the response wasn’t particularly enthusiastic. Perhaps it seemed a little simplistic to simply see a seven-coloured rainbow arching across the sky and think of it as hope or opportunity arriving. Some even said they had never seen a rainbow.
Looking back now, I realise there’s also the phrase “crossing a rainbow bridge”.
